Disciple: Conform - Dead to Sin, Alive in Christ - Brian Barr

Apr 14, 2024    Brian Barr

As followers of Jesus, our testimony is that we are dead to sin and are now alive to God. But what does that mean? This week, Brian Barr continued in our series Disciple: Conform, looking at how we conform to the likeness of Jesus by fighting sin in our lives. Before becoming a Christian, we were enslaved to sin. But when we turn to Jesus, our old self dies and we experience freedom from the power of sin and walk in the newness of life in Christ! It doesn't mean we are incapable of sinning, but that we are free from sin’s dominion in our lives. Now we fight against the temptation to sin and present ourselves to God as instruments of righteousness. Walking in the grace of God means that we accept that Jesus has both forgiven and cleansed us! We are no longer dirty and full of shame. We are given the Holy Spirit who empowers us to walk in victory over sin and gives us new desires for righteousness.
