Family Legacy: Raising Kids with God’s Authority

Parenting is a sacred calling—one where God entrusts parents with real, God-given authority to shepherd their children toward His purposes. This authority isn’t about control, but about representing God through love, truth, discipline, and consistency. Our children are like arrows—meant to be shaped, aimed, and released with intention. But they won’t hit the target by chance. At the core of our parenting is a spiritual battle: our kids, like all of us, are born with a desire for self-autonomy, a sinful pull to live apart from God’s authority. As parents, we are called to lovingly confront that pull and point them to the only One who can set them free—Jesus. Without stepping into our role as ambassadorial authority, we risk sending our children into a world unprepared for what truly matters. God’s Word gives us everything we need to raise children who know their purpose, honor their parents, and live under the life-giving authority of God.
