Galatians: What Does it Mean to be Gospel Centered?
In Galatians 2, Paul publicly confronts Peter because his behavior was out of step with the truth of the gospel. By separating himself from Gentile believers, Peter was reinforcing a counterfeit gospel that said acceptance with God comes through religious performance rather than faith in Christ alone. Paul reminds us that justification is by grace through faith, not by works, and that the true gospel shapes both what we believe and how we live. When fear, hypocrisy, or people-pleasing begin to direct our behavior, the gospel is at stake. And for those stuck in shame or feeling like a failure, the gospel offers freedom: you are not justified by your performance, but by faith in the One who loved you and gave Himself for you.
